Archival historyRelationships were established with British and Russian organisations and regular deliveries of books and periodicals were made . It soon became apparent that an informal arrangement made it harder to get support and finance so an application for charity status was made. Charity status was achieved on 18 December 2001.
By 2004 it became apparent that what was needed was access to up to date journals on the internet. Also there was no longer enough money for the transport and delivery of journals etc to St Petersburg. At a final meeting of the trustees in January 2005 it was agreed that the final £1,000 should be spent bringing over two St Petersburg Librarians to visit the Bodleian, London University Library and John Rylands. Sheila was no longer a trustee but tried to find a way of extending the work of the charity through University International Offices without success
