Covers the fact that his father was an industrialist and the family escape to the UK via Hungary, Italy and Africa after the German occupation of Poland, his enlistment in the Polish forces in the UK, his membership of the Polish underground, his return to England at the end of the war, his work at the National Assistance Board and then at Carborundum. It also covers the Polish community in Manchester and life as an immigrant.
