Scope and ContentThree notebooks with handwritten, shorthand notes about the AEU (Amalgamated Engineering Union), appearing to be about meeting ranging between 1956 and 1972. Typed notes from the Sheffield Independent, Sheffield Mail and Sheffield Telegraph newspapers, pertaining to events from 1905 through to the 1920s, accompanied by a pamphlet by Alf Barton titled 'The Universal Strike'. Similarly there are typewritten extracts from the Sheffield Guardian covering 1907-8.
There are also minutes from the Sheffield Trades and Labour Council, copied in type from another source, about the 1910s-20s. Minutes from the Sheffield Communist Party are also present, some in a notebook, some typed, again looking at the 1920s but written in the late 1950s. A number of typed and handwritten notes on the history of socialism in Britain, including about the British Socialist Party and the Social Democratic Party.
A document about the Sheffield Shop Stewards is included, looking at the period 1916-1918. Some sheets from The Clarion and the Sheffield Pioneer, as well as more handwritten notes on the history of the Sheffield Labour Movement, a photocopy of a 1919 Resolution by the Sheffield Trades and Labour Council and a long handwritten piece on George H Fletcher.
