Archival historyAdministrative history: The Furniture, Timber and Allied Trades Union (FTAT) was formed in 1971 from the amalgamation of the National Union of Furniture Trade Operatives and the Amalgamated Society of Woodcutting Machinists. In 1978 the National Union of Musical Instrument Makers (1894) joined the union. In 1991 the union merged with the GMB.
