The post war open shop drive in the 20's misnamed 'The American Plan', saw the AFL dwindle away year by year. Fiorello LaGuardia, late mayor of New York City (lower left), and George Norris, who later pushed TVA through Congress (lower right), co-authored an anti-injuction law which freed unions from one of many legal repressions. Bob LaFollette, Senator from Wisconsin (upper right), worked long and hard with labor's political support.
