Scope and ContentThe silver coloured badge is styled as a portcullis with the prison logo of an arrowhead, mounted on the face in the suffrage campaign's colours of green, white and purple. On either side of the badge there are free-hanging chains representing the gate ropes.

Archival historyThe badge was presented to imprisoned suffragettes on their release from prison. Richard Pankhurst credits his mother, Sylvia with designing the so-called 'Holloway Badge".
