Back: Illustration of the memorial to the International Brigades unveiled 5th Oct 1985. Text - Memorial to the International Brigade, South Bank, London, unveiled on 5th Cot 1985. 50th anniversary commemoration. Side text - From 1936-39 democratic Spain was attacked by fascist forces aided by Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. From all over the world men and women cam to help defend Spanish democracy. Over 2100 volunteers went from Britain, of these 526 were killed and many wounded and maimed. Their heroism and sacrifice inspired the world
