Scope and ContentThere is a caveat on the cassette as to its usefulness. It contains an interview with a retired miner.
The tape starts with the interviewer asking an old miner about his lifetime experiences. The miner recalls that during the General Strike of 1926, his sister died in an accident, and he also recalls that the General Strike was precipitated by the mine employers wanting to take back a 20-minute "snack break". The miner recalls that in his early life as a miner, his working life was full of struggles and strikes. He states that In 1937 the miners were "strike happy". The tape is not that useful as the miner in question is not very consistent or clear about his facts.
