Scope and ContentA radio programme about Stafford Cripps, and how he went from being "The Red Squire" to the "austere saint". The radio presenter answered the question of "why now, a programme about Stafford Cripps?", by saying he felt he had had a raw deal, that he was one of the handful of major figures in the post-war Labour government (President of the Board of Trade), and had left no account of himself. The programme contains reminiscences from many people who knew or worked with him, such as Barbara Castle, Harold Wilson, Michael Foot, Lord Wyatt and Bishop Mervyn Stockwood. The programme is recorded on one side of the tape only, and is cut off before the end.
