Scope and ContentTom Hadwin was born in 1898 in West Kirby. He joined the navy in 1916, and was a leading torpedoman at the Battle of Jutland. He left the navy in 1925, and became an electrician then a labourer for the council. He recalls the Russian Revolution, and laying mines at Skagerrak. He joined the Independent Labour Party. He took part in the unemployed workers movement, and formed the Navvies' Union. He joined the Communist Party in 1930. He joined the International Brigade and talks about Spain - the training, action etc.
