Scope and ContentBessy Johnson was born in 1909. She talks about the Board of Guardians parish relief during the 1926 miners strike. She joined the Young Communist League then the Communist Party. She describes her trade union activities, and her work in the Co-operative Womens Guild, and the National Assembly of Women. Her father helped organise the National Union of Unemployed Workers. She describes collecting food for Spain, and the Daily Worker (1985). There is a Word document which gives a more detailed summary of the tape.
