Scope and ContentHenry Suss was born in 1915, in Strangeways. His father was Austrian, his mother Polish. He had 8 brothers and sisters. He started work for merchant shippers at 15, then garment makers. He describes the departments, wages, work, unofficial strike, Communist blacklist. He joined the Communist Party in 1936, and took part in the Theatre of Action. Theatre and trade union activities helped expressed his political ideas. He describes how his left wing views conflicted with his Jewish religion. Work in textile factories. More union activity after WWII. Socialism. Joining the Communist Party. Waterproofing industry.
