Scope and ContentNellie Black's father was secretary of the Manchester Communist Party, which met in the Secular Hall, Rusholme Road. After World War One went to Australia and returned in 1929. In World War One was in the army, secretary in the headquarters in France. In Australia worked for an agricultural equipment firm, and joined the trade union. Returned to England, was active in the unemployed workers union, and was a member of the Communist Party.
