Scope and ContentMaurice was born in 1907 in Cheetham, Manchester. In 1928 he emigrated to Australia. The Wall Street crash led to poverty in Australia, and the Salvation Army gave out sustenance tickets. Maurice returned to England. He joined the Communist Party, and describes party organisation etc. He was turned down at first for the International Brigade, but later was allowed to join. He describes his time in Spain, the war, his action in it etc. [continued from TAPE/078 and continued on TAPE/079]
