n.d.
Scope and ContentTape covers the period 1974-1997: Dave talks about various campaigns in which he, with the Communist Party, was active, such as Grunwick and the 1984-5 miners' strike. He talks about the split within the Communist Party, resulting in the formation of the Communist Party of Britain, in 1989-90, of which he was a member. After retiring from Soviet Weekly, he moved to Cumbria and was active in campaigns there, eg against Trident and plutonium production at Sellafield. He talks about the demise of the U.S.S.R. and his continuing support for the people there, eg for children from Chernobyl. His international interests include what was happening in South Africa, Cuba, China and Vietnam. Nearer to home there was the Wapping dispute. He gave details of the death of his sister Margaret, as a result of practices carried out by the privatised railway companies, and which gave rise to another of his campaigns. He talks about the year leading up to the 1997 general election, and what was happening in Britain and in other European countries. He ends up with a report of the six weeks since that election, with details of where the Labour government was failing, and he reiterates his belief in the Communist Party, and in Socialism.
