Scope and ContentTape covers the period 1951-1974: In 1952 he took part in the campaign against the Bata Shoe Company, who sacked workers and tried to evict them from their tied houses. The C.P. also ran a campaign for agricultural workers living in tied houses. He talks about various election campaigns, and also about the Essex floods in 1953. He talks about his organising work for the Communist Party, and about some of their many campaigns, eg the British-Soviet Friendship Society and support for the 1984-5 Miners' Strike.
