From Catalogue of political and personal satires preserved in the Department of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum: vol VIII - 1801-1810: "A street scene lit by a lamp projecting from a high brick wall: Maiden Lane. A tall man, very thin and pale, walks (r. to l.), wearing spectacles, a cane in his r. hand. His shoulders are thickly sprinkled with powder. He terrifies an Irish fishwife, who holds up both arms to avert the spectre, turning away with a terrified stare, saying Governor Wall's Ghost! by J.....s! Her basked of fish falls to the ground. The man is corpse-like, and his clothes seem to hang on a skeleton. The woman is stout and very ragged. Besider her a tunnel penetrates the wall, slanting down from street level, under an arch inscribed Cyder Cell[ars], a famous night resort in Maiden Lane.
"For Wall's execution see No 9845. A man so called, from his resemblance to Wall, was a reporter of parliamentary debates and a frequenter of the Cider Cellar."
