Scope and ContentIllustration
Reminiscent of a film poster. Large illustration of Joe Fillingham, a Manchester man who died in the Spanish civil war. Fillingham, wearing an overcoat and a beret, which bears a hammer and sickle, stares forwards, expressionless.
The illustration uses earth colours; his overcoat is brown and shades of grey are used for the beret and the details on his face.
Text
It uses block-style lettering. At the top, in brown lettering with black shadow, is his name with his surname in upper case lettering. At the base, also in uppercase brown lettering but with a white border to separate it from the overcoat, are details of his death: Killed at Teruel: January 20, 1938. An appendage attached at the bottom left corner shows the name of the makers: Manchester Film and Photo League.
