The background of the illustration is made predominantly of shades of yellow and green (dark green being the colour of the material), depicting a yellow sun rising, producing yellow rays, with fields in the middle ground and industrial buildings on the horizon.
In the foreground, making the centrepiece of the illustration is an Asian man standing behind a white woman. He is wearing a brown suit with a white shirt and yellow tie. She is wearing a light blue skirt, with a white blouse on which is attached a black peace badge. Above her head she is holding a long, thin red flag, the end of which she holds in her other hand, displaying the slogan "Unity is Strength". She appears to be shouting, as if on a protest.
The banner has a thin red border running around all of its edges.

Located top centre is a large horizontal rectangle with oval ends. This is light blue with a purple border. Inside, in large, lowercase purple letters is the name 'Nalgo'.
Immediately beneath this are two scrolls next to each other. These are both of a purple colour (darker than that of the 'Nalgo' text) with a gold coloured trim. The other side of these scrolls is coloured navy blue (visible where the effect is achieved of the scroll curving back on itself). The left-hand scroll reads, in large, uppercase gold lettering: "Salford District" while the other reads: "Metropolitan Branch".
The text on the red flag, "Unity is Strength" is in black uppercase lettering, but is more freestyle in nature.
At the base of the banner is one more ribbon/scroll, this time one continuous, thinner piece. It is in the same colour scheme as the two at the top, again with the reverse side visible at the curves. It has three segments of the front side visible which read: "Nat' & Local", "Gov't Officers" and "Association" in the similar, but necessarily smaller uppercase gold lettering as above.
