Scope and ContentViraj Mendis Defence Campaign (VMDC) banner, Greenham Common
Illustration:
The background of the banner is multicoloured; shades of red, blue, yellow and green, with a spider-web like pattern in the colour of the material (white). Central to this is a white circle with spokes leading to an octagonal structure and the spokes continuing out to an outer white border.
Text :
In the top left corner, on the thin white border, are the words "Viraj Mendis Defence Campaign" in a very small, uppercase font, coloured black.
Forming an arch from halfway down the left edge to halfway down the right edge is the text "VMDC Greenham". These are in a very large, uppercase font, coloured a dark shade of green. In an arch opposite to this, therefore forming a circle with the above text, are the words "No Deportations No Cruise". These are in a smaller, uppercase font, more structured than the above, and coloured black.
Inside the central circle are the following words, spread over four lines:
"Say
No To: -
Racist Laws
Nuclear War"
The last line forms a downward-curving arch, following the base of the circle. These words are in a small, uppercase font, coloured black.

Physical descriptionDimensions (HxW): 2540mmx2180mm
Materials
The banner consists of two separate pieces, attached horizontally with black stitching visible on the reverse, of a thin cotton cloth, with a stitched hem at all edges.
The background colours have been spray-painted with the illustration achieved using a stencil. On top of this the text is in a thicker paint. The smallest text "Viraj Mendis Defence Campaign" appears to be marker pen.
Several holes have been deliberately made in the hollows of the following letters, to allow breeze to pass through when the banner is outdoors:
'D' of 'VMDC', 'R' of 'Greenham', 'O's of both 'No's at the base, both 'O's of 'Deportations', and 'O's of 'No to'.
Hanging Mechanism
There are sleeves down both side edges, stitched closed at the top.
