Scope and ContentFront
Illustration
Full border of brown and beige coloured checks.
The illustration depicts a sunrise, with a large red/pink half-sun on the horizon as the centrepiece. Emanating from it are rays of different shades of red, orange and yellow. Two large orange trees in the foreground frame the sun. These trees stand in a green field in the immediate foreground, in which there are red poppies. Beyond this, to the horizon, is a yellow hay field. Located centrally in the border at the bottom of the banner is an olive branch.
Text
At the top third, partially obscuring the tops of the trees is a rectangular box of a light lilac colour with the name: "East Bradford Socialist Sunday School". This text is in an elegant uppercase font, coloured navy blue, apart from the first letters of each word and all of "school" which are coloured gold with a navy blue shadow. Between "East" and "Bradford" are small gold crosses with navy blue shadows and either side of "school" are slightly larger sun with the same colour arrangement.
Emanating from the bottom corners of this box is a ribbon of the same colour, which is wrapped around the trees in a symmetrical pattern. On the two portions of the ribbon wrapped around the tree to the left are the words "Knowledge" and "Peace". On the portions around the right hand tree are the words "Truth" and "Plenty". Around the portion that links the two is the word "Happiness". These words are in the same navy blue colour and the same font as the text at the top of the banner, except for "Happiness" which is gold with a navy blue shadow.
Located top centre and left and right centre are three white circles with red outside and gold inside borders. In these are red flags with gold trim and gold staffs with the abbreviation "SSS" in white uppercase lettering.
Reverse
Illustration
The reverse has a decorative painted floral border.
Across the top the foliage is thickest with many flowers in shades of blue, yellow and pink. In both top corners are small white bows with gold centres, which give the impression of holding the flowers up. At the top centre is a larger bow, similarly coloured and hanging the flowers from the centre.
Also emanating from the corner bows are gold coloured ropes, hanging vertically. On each side, a third of the way down, these ropes lead to more foliage and flowers, of similar colours but less abundant. From here the border moves to the bottom two thirds of the banner in the form of thin green interlocking foliage, like ivy. This details stretches down and across the base of the banner with three pink flowers mirroring the three bows at the top.
Text
The bulk of the reverse consists of the one of the 10 Socialist commandments:
"Honour Good Men, Be Courteous To All Men, Bow Down To None".
These words are stretched over eight lines and are painted in a classical style uppercase font of a green-tourquoise colour with gold detail on every letter. To separate words on the same line are gold dots with green-tourquoise shadows.

Extent1 double sided banner
Physical descriptionDimensions: 1520mmx1700mm
Materials
2-ply thick, heavy cloth, stitched together. Around the edges is a thick gold-coloured rope, finished with a big loop at each corner and long hanging tassels at the bottom corners. Across the base of the banner the same rope forms gold coloured hanging tassels.
All of the illustrations and text on the banner are thickly painted.
Hanging Mechanism
There are eight thick, sturdy gold coloured loops across the top of the banner. The first two at either edge are close together, but the remaining loops have a greater distance between them and are evenly spaced across the top. They appear to have been constructed from a single piece of material which has been doubled over at the top and stitched down to create a loop.
